Pros of Building an Ashton Woods Home
Sales Experience - this can be a hit or miss depending on who the sales associate is in your desired neighborhood. We have had some great sales experiences, but training can be hit or miss for new sales associates. This is a solid reason to have a new construction REALTOR® on your team.
Building Experience - the construction managers (CMs) we have worked with have been good. They typically don't have years and years of experience. Your milage may vary, expecially post COVID.
Home Quality - they build homes to code and use quality materials. I would say they build a typical production quality home. Nothing exceptional, just the typical quality you see in a production home of good work.
Warranty Experience - they fixed the problems when reported. Most of the time to the client's satisfaction.
Client Experience - overall our clients feel their Ashton Woods Home was worth the money paid and they have enjoyed living in their new home.
Cons of Building an Ashton Woods Home
- Quality - some clients feel that they lack quality. I would remind you that they build an affordable home to industry standards. You need to keep in mind you are not paying for or receiving a custom home.
- Repairs - This is where Ashton Woods gets hit the hardest on reviews. They need to beef up their warranty and repairs department. It is hard to gauge a true rating, since most happy clients never leave a review.
Understand what type of home you are buying. Hire a solid and experienced new homes agent and you should have a great experience. Just stay on top of them about any need repairs or deficiencies during the build process.
Is Ashton Woods a good builder?
Yes they are, just understand you are building a custom home, but a production home. Set your expectations appropriately and you will love your home.
Do Ashton Woods Home increase in value?
A homes appreciation depends on multiple factors. How is the city/neighborhood doing economically. How is the home inventory level. How much competition is there when selling a home. All these factors will add up to how much value or appreciation you see in your new Ashton Woods home.
What is your favorite thing about Ashton Woods Home?
The price per square foot you get at the finish out they provide. We absolutely loved our little two story Ashton Woods Home.
How long will it take to build my Ashton Woods Home?
That is an unknown, but estimate 6-9 months in the 2023 market.
Can we now do build to suit homes?
You bet! Post COVID, Ashton Woods is now allowing us to build to suit homes again!
Should I wait for Ashton Woods home prices to come down?
We have seen some pretty nice price reductions so far. My best advice is to build when your ready and don't try to engage in market timing. It doesn't work well in the stock market and it won't serve you well now.
